Uncertainty.
It's the one thing every Christian (or anyone really) struggles with.
In the past few years, the world has seen a rapid, almost exponential advancement in technology, yet the search for certainty and knowledge of the future remains an ongoing quest.
Till date, no scientist, engineer, researcher, or analyst have been able to crack that code with one hundred percent accuracy.
We struggle daily with the discovery of purpose, and as Christians, we have a desire and calling to walk in God's will, even when we sometimes don’t know what that will is.
I know I have that struggle.
There are days I wonder if I’m on the right track. If what I’m doing is what He would have me do? It’s a constant question lurking at the edge of my mind.
But recently something clicked while I was reading Paul’s letter to Corinth.
1 Corinthians 2:11
“No one can know a person’s thoughts except that person’s own spirit, and no one can know God’s thoughts except God’s own spirit. And we have received God’s own spirit (not the world’s spirit), so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us.”
Let’s break it down.
Thoughts are private. Accessible only to the owner and his spirit. In the same way, God's thoughts are private to His Spirit alone.
But here's the kicker:
God has given us His spirit. This same spirit, that has complete access to God’s thoughts, is now living and dwelling in us.
That means when God says “for I know the thoughts that I think towards you…”
It also means that YOU have access to those thoughts because His Spirit is living in you.
1 Corinthians 2: 10
“ But it was to us that God revealed these things by His spirit. For His spirit searches out everything and shows us God's deep secrets.”
Do you understand the implication of this?
God’s spirit in you gives you exclusive access to His mind, His thoughts, His secrets, His blueprint, His purpose for your life.
All you’ve been worried and concerned about - all has been deposited in you!
You just have to tap into it.
How?
Praying in the Spirit; submitting your every move and staying sensitive to His leading; walking and living in the Spirit and not in the flesh; daily study and practical application of the Word of God because that in itself is a whole instruction manual on how to live.
This is such an underutilized treasure trove.
Imagine a nation full of people consistently moving in partnership with God's spirit in them, discovering purpose and acting swiftly on it.
Imagine where we would be if we made use of this privileged access we've been given.
Less confusion, less uncertainty and less time spent wandering in doubt.
So if you already have the Holy Spirit in you, wake up to this reality and start making use of your privileges!
But for anyone wondering:
How do I receive this Spirit?
It's simple: believe.
Ephesians 1:13-14
“And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.”
The Holy Spirit is a seal placed on anyone who believes. It's marker of your new identity in Christ, and a guarantee of your inheritance in Him. And He comes on you the moment you believe in Jesus.
That's all it takes.
Your surrender, your allegiance, your confession of Faith.
So if you haven't, this is a call for you today:
Simply come. God wants to partner with you. There are undiscovered mysteries that he is excited to share with you, so much beauty he wants to bring into the world through you.
But first you need to come home.
If you're willing, say this prayer with me:
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for making me in your image. Thank you for counting me worthy to share in your life through the redemptive power of the Blood of your Son, Jesus.
Today, I believe in my heart, and I confess with my mouth that You are Lord, Jesus.
I accept You into my heart as my saviour. I believe in Your death and resurrection that has broken me free from the power of sin and death.
And I receive the seal of the Holy Spirit today.
I surrender my life, my all to you. I surrender to your will, and your directive. Come in and make my heart your home.
Thank you for saving me Father, in Jesus Name.
Amen.
If you sincerely said this prayer, welcome to the family!
You have it now; the Spirit of the living God inside you.
Now you can access these divine secrets too.
Shalom!
